“The GD 5 Battery takes the cord out of backpack vacuuming. It runs on a 36-volt lithium battery, so an operator can work through cinemas, auditoriums, restaurants, shops and transit seating without hunting for outlets or dragging a cord past guests. Nilfisk rates it for up to 60 minutes in normal mode and 30 minutes in boost.
The 40-minute recharge is what makes it practical for longer shifts: with a second battery on the charger, one can be ready by the time the other runs down. Boost adds suction for heavier soil, and the normal setting is rated at 60 dB(A), quiet enough for daytime cleaning in occupied spaces. The HEPA version adds a HEPA filter to the pre-filter and sack filter.
The trade-off is capacity. The dust bag holds 5 liters, about 1.3 gallons, and an hour per battery drops to half that with boost on. For long, uninterrupted vacuuming of big carpeted areas, a corded backpack such as the Adgility 10XP is the simpler choice. The Advance GD 5 Battery is a cordless backpack vacuum for dust removal where space between seats, tables and shelves is limited, such as cafes, restaurants, shops, cinemas, auditoriums, conference rooms and transportation. A 36-volt, 7.8 Ah lithium-ion battery gives up to 60 minutes of run time in normal mode and 30 minutes in boost, and it recharges in 40 minutes or less.
Boost mode raises suction power at the end of the tube from 45 W to 116 W for heavier soil. Nilfisk rates sound pressure at 60 dB(A) in normal mode and 65 dB(A) in boost. Debris collects in a 5-liter (1.3-gallon) dust bag, and the machine weighs 17.6 lb (8 kg) with its battery. Ask your sales rep which batteries and charger come with this unit.
