“The TRANSPORT SC412B is a corded backpack vacuum for crews who clean around obstacles: stairwells, theaters, classrooms, cubicle-filled offices and areas with fixed seating. At 11.5 pounds on a padded harness with shoulder straps and a waist belt, it leaves the operator's hands free for the wand.
It is also quiet. Sanitaire rates it at 69 dBA, which meets the LEED 'Daytime Quiet' threshold of 70 dBA or less, and it carries the CRI Seal of Approval at the Gold level. An 8.5-amp motor delivers 120 CFM into a 6-quart Style BV-2 paper bag inside a cloth bag, backed by a pleated pre-motor filter and an exhaust filter. The 50-foot pigtail cord and curved aluminum wands with dusting, crevice, carpet and bare floor tools cover floors and above-floor surfaces.
The trade-off is technique. Backpacks take some getting used to, and on wide-open carpet an upright is faster. Where a backpack earns its place is in tight, cluttered or vertical spaces where an upright slows down.”
