“The XL-Series is the Timberline walk-behind for buildings with a lot of open floor: grocery and big-box retail, airports, schools and hospitals, and contract cleaners running long routes. It carries 25 gallons of solution and runs up to four hours on the standard 36-volt batteries, so one operator can cover a large area without stopping to refill or recharge, while the steel frame and through-bolted parts hold up to daily use.

The deck is the real decision. Pick a disk deck for general daily scrubbing; the gimbaled mount follows uneven floors, and the 32-inch version gives the most coverage. Pick orbital if you strip and recoat VCT, since the 2,500 rpm pad can remove finish without chemicals and leaves no swirl marks. Pick cylindrical for grouted tile, rubber flooring or floors with sand and small debris, because it sweeps and scrubs in the same pass.”

The Timberline XL-Series is a battery-powered, traction-drive walk-behind floor scrubber with a 25-gallon solution tank and a 26-gallon recovery tank. Timberline built it with contract cleaners and large retail areas in mind, and lists grocery, retail and airports as typical applications, along with schools, hospitals and shopping centers. You choose the deck: dual disk (28 or 32 in), orbital (24 or 28 in) or cylindrical (26 or 30 in). Together the decks cover VCT, sealed concrete, grouted tile and rubber flooring. RPS Corporation builds Timberline machines by hand in Racine, Wisconsin.

Reading the model numbers: Timberline names each XL machine by its cleaning path in inches and its deck type, so the XL30 Cylindrical is the 30-inch cylindrical-deck model. All six share the same chassis, tanks, vacuum, 36 V battery system and 41-inch squeegee; the deck, scrub motor and down pressure are what change.

Features:

• Scrub deck, battery support, wheels, squeegee linkage and tanks are through-bolted to a 3/16 in powder-coated steel frame, not to the tanks
• Pads, brushes and squeegee blades change without tools, and the blades can be rotated or flipped
• Five protective barriers in the recovery tank keep moisture out of the vacuum motor, plus a blow-by discharge hose
• Sealed, all-gear 0.75 hp traction drive with 36 V, 150 Ah wet batteries as standard
• Soft corners and wall rollers are standard, with simple controls and clear sight lines from the operator position
