“The HERO Z5 is Onyx's 30-inch propane planetary machine for decorative concrete and terrazzo: grinding and polishing, plus stripping and deep cleaning when the job calls for it. It is the power unit in Onyx's HERO Polishing System and runs on a 708cc propane engine, so there is no cord or generator to manage on large floors.
Speed is the headline. Onyx spins the active planetary head at up to 1,400 rpm, which it says is more than twice the speed of typical grinders, aiming for faster refinement and a more uniform scratch pattern at each step. An adjustable weight system lets the operator tune head pressure, the water feed is adjustable, and the Z5 accepts any diamond tooling system, not only HERO pads. A foldable handle, headlight and transport wheel help when moving it between jobs.
The trade-off is that this is a specialist machine. Running propane indoors means planning for ventilation and fuel handling, and for routine VCT stripping a dedicated stripper such as Onyx's TX1 or TX7 is the simpler tool.”
