“The EX40 18LX is the larger of Clarke's two EX40 self-contained extractors, built for routine deep cleaning of bigger carpeted areas such as hotel corridors, office floors and school buildings. The 18-inch path and 12-gallon solution tank cover more carpet per fill, and One-Touch controls keep operation to switching on and picking a cleaning mode.
The handle is the feature to look at. It rotates fully, which cuts down on backing the machine into and out of tight spaces, and the 16ST does not have it. A 3-stage, 1.5 hp vacuum motor rated at 120 inches of water lift, a self-aligning 20.75-inch vacuum shoe and a floating brush head handle recovery, and the removable tank drains through a front-mounted hose.
The trade-off is size. At 22.75 inches wide and 114 pounds, it is a bigger machine to move between floors and through narrow doorways. For smaller rooms and tighter layouts, the EX40 16ST is the easier fit.”

The Clarke EX40 18LX is a self-contained carpet extractor with an 18-inch (46 cm) cleaning path, a 12-gallon (45 L) solution tank and a 10-gallon (38 L) recovery tank. One-Touch controls let the operator switch on and select a cleaning mode from a single panel, and a fully rotating handle reduces the need to back into tight spaces.
A 120 psi pump delivers 0.7 gpm in restorative mode, and a 3-stage, 1.5 hp vacuum motor provides 120 inches of water lift through a 20.75-inch self-aligning vacuum shoe. A 1/3 hp motor drives the 18-inch floating brush head. The tank is removable, the drain hose is front-mounted, and the machine runs on 120 V with a 50-foot power cable.
