“The EX40 16ST is a walk-behind, self-contained carpet extractor sized for routine deep cleaning in offices, schools, hotels and healthcare buildings. The 16-inch path and 19.25-inch width keep it manageable in hallways and around furniture, and One-Touch controls mean an operator switches it on, picks a cleaning mode and goes.
It is built for recovery as much as cleaning. A 3-stage, 1.5 hp vacuum motor rated at 120 inches of water lift pulls through a self-aligning vacuum shoe, and the floating brush head stays in contact with the carpet, which Clarke says leaves carpets drier. A 120 psi pump, a removable tank and a front-mounted drain hose make filling and dumping easier.
The trade-off is capacity. A 9-gallon solution tank and 7-gallon recovery tank mean more refills on big jobs, and the handle does not flip. For large open carpet, the EX40 18LX adds a wider path, bigger tanks and a fully rotating handle.”

The Clarke EX40 16ST is a self-contained carpet extractor with a 16-inch (41 cm) cleaning path, a 9-gallon (34 L) solution tank and a 7-gallon (26.5 L) recovery tank. One-Touch controls let the operator switch on and select a cleaning mode from a single panel. Clarke states the EX40 is certified by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI).
A 120 psi pump delivers 0.7 gpm in restorative mode, and a 3-stage, 1.5 hp vacuum motor provides 120 inches of water lift through an 18.75-inch self-aligning vacuum shoe. A 1/3 hp motor drives the 16-inch floating brush head. The tank is removable, the drain hose is front-mounted, and the machine runs on 120 V with a 50-foot power cable.
