“The VU500 12 is Advance's single-motor commercial upright for medium and low-cut pile carpet, sized for hotel rooms, offices and classrooms where an 11.5-inch path fits between furniture. The brush height adjusts itself, so operators go from carpet to hard floor without touching a knob, and the Radius Turning System makes short turns in tight spaces.
Filtration stands out: a 2-ply paper bag, a motor pre-filter and a certified HEPA exhaust filter that Advance rates at 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns and larger, and it carries the CRI Seal of Approval (Silver). The 1,000-watt, 2-stage motor pulls 92 inches of water lift and 93 cfm, it runs at 68 dB(A), and it weighs 19.5 pounds with the cord. The stretch hose, wand and crevice tool ride onboard.
The trade-offs are bag size and cord length. The 3.4-quart bag fills faster than bigger uprights, and the 12 has a 33-foot cord, so expect more replugging in long corridors. For bigger rooms, the VU500 15 adds a 14.5-inch path and a 50-foot cord.”

Three-stage filtration uses a 2-ply paper bag, a motor pre-filter and a certified HEPA exhaust filter rated to capture 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns and larger, and the VU500 carries the CRI Seal of Approval (Silver). An indicator light shows a full bag or clog, the 33 ft cord detaches for service, and the brush comes out without tools. It weighs 19.5 lb with cord and runs at 68 dB(A).
