“The Pacesetter 20SD is the heavy end of Advance's low-speed Pacesetter line: a 20-inch, 175 rpm floor machine with a 1.75 hp motor, where the 17HD and 20HD use 1.5 hp. It suits crews in schools, hospitals, supermarkets and plants that strip and scrub hard floors on a regular schedule and want more motor behind the pad.

What stands out is the drivetrain. Advance lists a triple-planetary, severe-duty gearbox for the 20SD, plus dual start and run capacitors and an all-steel body with a chrome-plated bell housing. It takes the industry-standard NP 92 clutch plate, so common pad drivers and brushes fit, and the 50-foot safety yellow cord ends in a clear hospital-grade plug you can check at a glance.

The trade-offs are weight and speed. At 102 pounds it is a lot of machine to lift into a vehicle, and at a single 175 rpm it is a stripping and scrubbing tool, not a polisher. If you want one machine that also spray-buffs, look at the two-speed Pacesetter 20TS at 180 and 320 rpm.”

Super-duty 20-inch, 175 rpm floor machine for stripping and scrubbing.

The Advance Pacesetter 20SD is the super-duty model in Advance's Pacesetter line of low-speed floor machines, used for stripping, scrubbing, screening and bonnet cleaning. A 1.75 hp, 120 V AC motor with dual start and run capacitors drives a 20-inch pad or brush at 175 rpm through a triple-planetary, severe-duty gearbox. Advance lists supermarkets, schools, hospitals, office buildings, hotels and heavy manufacturing plants as typical applications.

The all-steel body has a cast, chrome-plated base and bell housing. A molded handle protects hands along walls and around corners, a red safety lock-out switch prevents accidental start-up, and a compression lever sets handle height. The 50 ft safety yellow super-flex cord resists tangling and ends in a clear hospital-grade plug. Large non-marking rear wheels move the 102 lb machine, and it is ETL and CSA approved.
