Our Take (from the SES Sales Team)

“The T291 is Tennant's entry point for a 20-inch walk-behind scrubber, and it fits the places a mop and bucket used to cover: convenience stores, restaurants, restrooms, break rooms and clinic hallways. It is small enough to work around tables and shelving, the controls come down to a dial and two preset modes, and the yellow touch points make daily checks easy to teach to a new operator.

Picking a version comes down to two questions. First, how far does it travel? Pad Assist is the simpler machine and Tennant rates it at about 21,000 square feet an hour. If your route has long hallways or a big open floor, the Self-Propel model is rated at about 26,500 and saves the operator some effort. Second, do you want to cut daily chemicals? The ec-H2O versions clean with converted water and still carry a detergent option for heavier soil. For batteries, AGM gives a little more run time and never needs watering.”

Tennant T291: a 20-inch battery walk-behind floor scrubber for small spaces

The Tennant T291 is a compact, battery-powered walk-behind floor scrubber with a 20 in (50 cm) disc deck and matching 13.2 gal (50 L) solution and recovery tanks. Tennant designed it for small or congested indoor areas, such as restrooms, break rooms, small shops and tight hallways, and its self-leveling brush/pad head adjusts to a range of hard floor surfaces. It runs on a 24 V system with an on-board charger, and it comes as a Pad Assist model, where the rotating pad helps pull the machine forward, or a Self-Propel model with a drive motor. Either version can be ordered with ec-H2O NanoClean® technology.

Reading the model numbers: Each T291 version is offered with a pair of 12 V wet (flooded) batteries, a pair of sealed AGM batteries that never need watering, or with no batteries if you already have a set. Wet batteries give up to 3.2 hours of continuous scrubbing on the Pad Assist model and 3 hours on the Self-Propel; AGM batteries give up to 3.7 and 3.5 hours. The ec-H2O NanoClean® versions convert plain water into a cleaning solution and keep a conventional detergent option on board (Severe Environment™) for heavier soil.

Features:

  • Self-leveling brush/pad head adjusts to the floor for even contact on various surfaces
  • Two preset cleaning settings, Standard and ECO; ECO mode cuts noise and water use and extends run time
  • Large LCD display with multilingual support and indicator lights for low solution and full recovery tank
  • No-tool squeegee attachment and spin-on/spin-off brush and pad change from the operator controls
  • Yellow touch points and a wide recovery tank opening make daily maintenance quick to train and check
