“The BR 47/35 is for malls, airports, transit stations, arenas and large office buildings where escalator treads and moving walkways collect grime that a mop or hand brush cannot reach. Parked at the bottom landing of a running escalator, it sprays solution onto the steps, scrubs it into the tread grooves with two counter-rotating roller brushes, and pulls the dirty water back through intake brushes, combs and four suction hoses into the recovery tank.

What stands out is how simple it is to run: one-button operation, a foot pedal to raise and lower the brush head, a foot-operated parking brake, and a handle that folds down for transport. The tank-in-tank design is easy to rinse out, and brushes and combs change without tools. The short brush head lets it work on escalators that start rising soon after the landing.

The trade-off is setup. The guide combs and groove rakes have to match the escalator make, such as Otis, Kone or Schindler, and are ordered separately, so confirm the brand first. It also runs on a 120 V cord, so plan for an outlet near the bottom landing.”

The Kärcher BR 47/35 Esc (1.310-110.0) is a corded cleaner for escalators and moving walkways. Working from the lower landing of a running escalator, it applies cleaning solution from the fresh water tank, and two counter-rotating, motor-driven roller brushes at 870 rpm work it into the tread grooves. Intake brushes, matching combs and four suction hoses return the dirty solution to the recovery tank.

The machine has an 18.5 in working width and 9.2 gal fresh and dirty water tanks in a tank-in-tank design, and runs on 120 V. Controls are one-button, with a foot pedal for the brush head, a foot-operated parking brake, an hour meter and a pump pressure display. Outboard deflectors reach the outermost grooves, the handle folds down for transport, and brushes and combs change without tools.
