“The Sensor XP 18 is the widest model in Kärcher's Sensor XP line: an 18-inch, single-motor upright with automatic brush-height adjustment. It is built for open carpet such as hotel corridors, ballrooms, open-plan offices and libraries, where the wider head cuts down the number of passes. Kärcher rates it at 3,659 square feet per hour, and it weighs 19 pounds.
What stands out is how little the operator has to manage. The brush height adjusts on its own and sits flush on hard floors, and indicator lights flag a full bag, a blockage, a brush that needs adjusting or a jam, with an automatic shutdown if they are ignored. The single 1,200-watt motor keeps the handle light, and the detail tools ride on the back.
The trade-offs are size and filtration. An 18-inch head is harder to steer between desks and beds than the XP 12 or XP 15, and the standard filter is high efficiency with HEPA as an optional kit. Sites that require HEPA from day one should look at a HEPA-standard upright instead.”

The brush rises on carpet and sits flush on hard floors without the operator touching a knob. A single 1,200 W (1.6 hp) motor on 120 V produces 105 cfm of airflow and 90 in of water lift and drives a 2,700 rpm double-row brush at 5,400 brush contacts per minute.
Debris collects in a 1.4-gallon triple-layer bag, and Kärcher says the standard high-efficiency filter traps up to 99.6% of particles at 0.3 microns; a HEPA filter kit is optional. Indicator lights report a full bag or blockage, brush height and brush jams, and the machine shuts down if they are ignored. Kärcher rates the XP 18 at 3,659 sq ft per hour and 69 dBA, with a 40-ft cord.
