“The BDS 51/175 C is the 20-inch version of Kärcher's 175 rpm floor machine, sized for open floor: school hallways, gyms, cafeterias and lobbies that get scrubbed, stripped and polished on a schedule. The wider pad covers more floor per pass than the 17-inch BDS 43/175 C, and Kärcher rates it at 2,222 square feet per hour.
The build is the reason to look at it. Kärcher uses a die-cast aluminum motor housing and main frame instead of a poly or stamped shell, with a 1.5 hp motor, a 3-planet gearbox and separate start and run capacitors. The 50-foot 14/3 SOOW cord has a strain relief, and a thumb safety lock has to be pressed before the switch levers will start the motor.
The trade-off is control and weight. A 20-inch head on a 1.5 hp low-speed machine takes a steadier operator than a 17-inch, and it is harder to work around furniture. At 94 pounds with the cord, plan on two people to load it. Brushes, pads and the optional solution tank are add-ons.”

The Kärcher BDS 51/175 C is a 20-inch, 175 rpm commercial floor machine for scrubbing, stripping, polishing and waxing hard floors. Like the 17-inch BDS 43/175 C, it is built with a die-cast aluminum motor housing and main frame, a 1.5 hp motor, a 3-planet gearbox and separate start and run capacitors. It runs on 115 V and draws 15 A.
A 50-foot 14/3 yellow SOOW cord connects at the handle with a twist-lock plug and has a strain relief. A thumb-activated safety interlock must be pressed before either switch lever will start the motor, and a built-in circuit breaker protects it. The handle height adjusts fully, and 5-inch non-marking wheels and a PVC bumper protect floors and walls. It weighs 94 lb with the cord.
