“The BDS 43/175 C is a 17-inch, 175 rpm floor machine for crews that scrub, strip and polish hard floors by hand. The 17-inch size is the one to pick for classrooms, offices, restrooms and corridors with furniture and tight corners, where a bigger head gets in the way.
What stands out is the build. Kärcher uses a die-cast aluminum motor housing and main frame instead of a poly or stamped shell, and pairs a 1.5 hp motor with a 3-planet gearbox and separate start and run capacitors. The 50-foot 14/3 SOOW cord has a strain relief, and the switch levers will not start the motor until the thumb safety lock is pressed, which helps when new operators are still learning to control a low-speed machine.
The trade-off is weight and coverage. At 91 pounds with the cord, it takes two people to lift into a vehicle, and Kärcher rates it at 1,923 square feet per hour. For open hallways and gyms, the 20-inch BDS 51/175 C covers more floor per pass. Brushes, pads and the optional solution tank are add-ons, so build the kit around your jobs.”

Kärcher builds the BDS series with die-cast aluminum housings instead of poly or stamped frames, and pairs a 1.5 hp motor with a 3-planet gearbox and separate start and run capacitors. It runs on 115 V and draws 15 A.
A 50-foot 14/3 yellow SOOW cord connects at the handle with a twist-lock plug and has a strain relief. The thumb-activated safety interlock must be pressed before either switch lever will start the motor, and a built-in circuit breaker protects it. The handle height adjusts fully, and 5-inch non-marking wheels and a PVC bumper protect floors and walls. It weighs 91 lb with the cord.
